The Ruger Gunsite Scout is a hybrid extension of the M77 family of rifles, displaying standard Mauser 98 features such as controlled round feeding, claw extraction, receiver mounted fixed blade ejection with a receiver mounted 3- position safety. Designed in collaboration with the staff at the Gunsite Academy, the Scout platform was the original creation of combat master Jeff Cooper and in his words, ""if you could own only one"" meant it was considered to be the ideal general purpose rifle.á
